The non-event that was the Conficker virus sparked a ton of media attention on April 1. In one afternoon two TV crews visited the new Schrock Innovations Computer Repair Service Center in Lincoln, NE to talk about the virus.

In both interviews I predicted that the virus would be a non-event, but that the bot network left behind could be leveraged at a later date for just about anything.

Schrock Innovations will be holding our first Preventative Maintenance Checkup Sale of 2009 this weekend to promote the grand opening of our new Computer Repair Service Center on the corner of 27th and Pine Lake Road.

Although we are “officially” launching the sale on this weekend’s Compute This radio show, you are invited to bring your PC in now and beat the inevitable rush!

The wallpaper we have been using was themed to our old website and logo so we decided to task the Schrock graphics guys to come up with a new wallpaper that more closely modeled our new logo.

This is what they came up with. Go ahead and download the wallpaper and try it out on your desktop. Simply installing our wallpaper may not make your computer a Modular PC, but it sure is pretty to look at 🙂

Schrock Innovations is on the verge of launching a new website that will feature several style and functionality updates intended to usher in a new business model.

For the first time ever, Schrock Innovations will be holding a launch event open to the media to kick off our 2006 Holiday PC. The Holiday PC Launch Event will be held on Friday, November 3, at the Villager Inn and Suites in the Lincoln Ballroom from 2-4 PM. We will be giving away special discounts to those in attendance and there will be a drawing for a free weekend in a Branson, MO condominium!

We will have a number of awesome speakers present interesting content including Coby Mach – the host of 1400 KLIN’s Drive Time Lincoln, Mayor Colleen Seng (or a representative from her office), Rod Scher, Editor of Smart Computing Magazine, Gene Hanlon with the city of Lincoln Recycling Office, and of course, Thor Schrock from Schrock Innovations.

We have finalized the specifications for this year’s Holiday special, and I need one more person who wants a computer that will run circles around anything else out there for years to come.

As many of you know, each year at Schrock we put together an amazing computer for the holiday season and sell a limited number of them at our cost. The system always retails for $1,499.99, and has become know in Lincoln and Omaha as a unique opportunity to lay your hands on an extremely advanced system.

If you fail to ride the wave of change you will find yourself beneath it. For the past 4 weeks that overused motivational phrase has been my compass as all of the employees of Schrock from our web developers to our technicians have come together to launch a new chapter in Schrock Innovations history.

As many of you may have heard on the radio Saturday, I launched Schrock’s 2006 Back to School Sale. For the first time ever, we are now carrying notebook computers in stock. While I could bore you with all of the logistics and reasons we have not done this in the past, I think it is much more interesting to explain why it is important for the future.
