I want to get a new PC soon and have to decide whether to go for one before or after Windows 7 is released.

I’m not keen on Vista and think Windows 7 will be a lot better, but then I’m not sure I want the first release of Windows 7. I.e. a more mature version of Vista may be more secure/reliable than a new version of Windows 7.

I’m leaning towards Waiting for Windows 7, though – is that recommended or is it worth getting the current version of Vista?

Well the point about installing SP1 was kinda obvious. Vista wouldn’t even automaticaly download SP2 without SP1 installed. But the rest is pretty nice,

Got to say I’m glad I’ve avoided Vista so far. I got XP Pro again when I upgraded my PC and don’t think I’ll try Vista at all seeing as Windows 7 is out in the not too distant future.

Actually – you can download Windows 7 now to try out so I might be tempted to give it a try.

This sounds very buggy.. having to do so much for a service pack install..
