Brad emailed me yesterday and told me he pulled all of his AdWords ads that were bidding on our trademarks.
The last time I asked someone to stop infringing on our trademarks it ended up being a long and nasty exchange that in one form or another goes on to this day. It was SOOOOO nice to deal with a level headed guy who obviously runs a reputable business and cares about his customers.
This is a perfect example of the power of asking nicely. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, before you pour on the legal vinegar try a little honey.
Thanks Brad for being cool about it and I am so going to pop in and take you to lunch sometime!

Works most of the time, indeed. I recently put this into use. I just joined the siteflipacademy site, just to see what it was all about. When I signed up the registration didn’t go just right, and it gave me the option to cancel and try again. So I did and the same problem happened. I then had 2 charges for the amount I paid on my paypal account. Needless to say I was ready to go off. I went to paypal’s website and was still very angry. They had an option to file a claim or something to that effect. I stopped and thought… if this was me, how would I want my customer to react. So I backed out, and tried to track down the contact information for this company. Tracked it down, gave them a call. I had to leave a message. Within about 30 minutes I got a call from the creator of the site, Justin Brooke. He resolved everything and I was very pleased. All because I stopped, took a deep breath and asked nicely for them to fix my problem. So yes that definitely works.
I agree Johnny. It was sooooo nice to work something out with Brad rather than getting all pissy with each other. You can never have too many allies in my business, and Brad seems to be a cool guy.
Being polite and nice can be a powerful force 🙂
