An Opportune Train Whistle Saves Me $1,500!

This last weekend I was at the Lincoln celebration of America Recycles Day at Midland Recycling in downtown Lincoln.

To celebrate the event, pledge boxes were distributed across Lincoln so people could pledge to start recycling. Students in high schools across the city also collected pledges for a chance to win some cool prizes.

One of the cool prizes was a $1,500 2007 Holiday Special Computer package from Schrock Innovations.

Just as Mayor Beutler announced.. “and the winner is…” a train appeared out of nowhere and fired off its whistle. It was perfect timing. No one could hear who won the prize, and the recycling mascot, R.E. Cycling (who is also a Schrock computer customer by the way) hammed it up.
