Microsoft LogoMicrosoft has announced that it will be releasing a new Service Pack called 2c for Windows XP Professional. This service pack does not apply to XP Home, Media Center, or 64-bit XP Professional.

Microsoft has stated that they are running out of activation code combinations for Windows XP Professional now that its lie cycle (Professional only) has been extended to 2009. The only thing the new service pack does is expand the range of acceptable activation codes.

There are no additional fixes or functionality in Service Pack 2c, so users of the current Windows XP Professional users have no need to install the service pack.

This service pack may not be available through the Microsoft Update website.
