My Doctor’s Office Closes After Pain Pill Scandal

Back in February I reported some behind the scenes information after a visit to my family physician (at the time) Doctor Robert Brown at Family Med Center in Omaha.
My wife was out driving yesterday and she noticed that the old Family Med Center location is now for lease. Channel 7 News (the station that broke the pain pill death story) never did a follow up that I saw, so I don’t really know what happened in the case.
Maybe some of my readers have some information?

My mother, age 68, has been seeing Dr. Brown for a year and a half. Tonight she is in the hospital after suffering the after effects of over medication by this “doctor”. At no time, did anyone in his office tell her that any of this was going on. Not until we checked her into the hospital, did we find out that his license was pulled and had lost priveleges at the hospital.
Frankly, I am disgusted that he is practicing. The medications he over prescribed for her are not pain meds or narcotics but some medications can be just as damaging. We are fortunate that she is alive. I find it most disturbing that she is on Medicare and that our government still allows patients to go to him. It makes me sick when I think about what could have happened to her.
He should at minimum be required to disclose his situation to patients and then let them decide if they want to put their lives in his hands. I am still in shock that this is the first we have heard about this.
I would like to know if Dr Brown is still in practice,in Omaha,Ne.??? If anyone knows, please w-mail me. I would like the address.
In 3 weeks, I will be getting all 4 wisdom teeth, plus another molar, taken out. I want a lot of pain medicine from my dentist, but I don’t want to seem like a pill seeker. My mouth is very sensitive. I feel EVERYTHING. I don’t want to be in pain. I get 3 days to recover, then I have to go back to work because I can’t afford not to.How can I ask for a lot of pain medicine without coming off as a drug addict?
