Vista was installed on my Toshiba laptop. I have Spysweeper installed and a few files, but otherwise, it’s fairly clean. I’m a novice, so don’t understand a lot of technical jargon, so use simple terms please.

Drivers for MT3705 for xp can be downloaded from gateway site under MX3702 for all but audio MX3701 audio works, same laptop by the way they just changed the model number when vista came out

some manufactures is so stupid or what, they are not make driver for XP for new type of laptop. Before you go to buy a new laptop make sure there is driver supported for few OS, not just vista !

In my opinion xp is better that vista and i advise u too install xp on ur laptop and after installing xp install all necessary softwares (etc antivirus..) and drivers and then make a ghost of this and write this on a cd and when u face any problem afterwards install win xp from ghsot cd only in few minutes (about 3 minutes for 10 gb data.) i am also using this method to get rid of installing all drivers again and agin and for wating installing windows.

Gateway said the same to me. Wondered about it as Microsoft were saying at the same time that manufacturers could supply XP while VISTA is being sorted out. I bought a copy of XP Professional and now cannot install it!!!

I did not see. It came up as a n information sign and not an error sign. I unistalled the PCI device and rebooted. Boom! PCI card recognized and all of the sudden my computer found the modem and sound. My Gateway 8711 is now running XP Home no thanks to GATEWAY…
