Wine, politics, and some good old fashioned networking

My wife and I had a wonderful time tonight at the Young Republicans wine tasting fundraiser at Coby Mach’s home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Typically there are a million of these things BEFORE an election, so it was nice for a change to come to an event where people were there to relax and interact without agendas.

I did find myself pulled into a business discussion with a couple of people over the competitive nature of the local computer industry. With the recent news about Schrock and the media interest it is generating I suspect many more of these informative discussions will follow in the near future.

It is always interesting to talk about business situations with politically minded people. It’s always a zero-sum game in those conversations and the complex network of political relationships almost always affords opportunities.
